Cabins 11-14 are our dedicated family cabins, arranged around a large communal grassed area that’s become a favourite with parents. The kids have room to run around, kick a ball, or make friends with other children staying in the park – all within clear sight of your cabin and well away from the river. There’s an undercover BBQ area for communal gatherings, which tends to bring families together on warm evenings.
The cabin layout is designed with families in mind. The queen-size main bed sits in the centre of the cabin with clear views through to the external play area – you can literally watch the kids from bed if you want a lazy morning. An electric blanket keeps things cosy on cooler nights, and linen is supplied.
The kitchen and ensuite bathroom are at one end, with the kids’ sleeping area at the other, separated by a three-quarter height false wall. This gives everyone a bit of space without completely closing things off.
Sleeping configurations vary slightly between cabins. Cabins 11 and 12 have a double bunk plus two single beds, sleeping up to six. Cabins 13 and 14 have three single beds, sleeping up to five. Linen kits are available for the single beds if needed.
The kitchen has a small oven, large fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle, plus all the cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery you need for family meals. Though honestly, most families end up cooking on the communal BBQ and eating outside – it’s just easier when you’ve got sandy kids running in and out.
Air conditioning handles both heating and cooling, and there’s a TV with DVD player for those inevitable “I’m bored” moments or rainy afternoon movie sessions.
Each cabin has a small concrete patio out front with chairs, but most families end up on the grassed quadrangle using the park bench seating. It’s that kind of relaxed, communal setup that camping holidays used to be about – kids playing together until dark while the parents chat over a drink.
The river is just a short walk away, but this setup gives you the best of both worlds: easy river access when you want it, safe enclosed play space when you need it.
