Cabins 13 and 14 are our family cabins configured for smaller families or those who prefer a bit more breathing room. Sleeping up to five guests, these cabins sit around a large grassed quadrangle where kids can safely play away from the river while you watch from inside.
The open-plan layout puts the queen-size main bed in the centre of the cabin with clear sightlines to the communal play area outside. You can keep an eye on the kids through the window while enjoying your morning coffee – or a sneaky sleep-in if they’re the early-rising type. The main bed comes with an electric blanket and linen supplied.
At the opposite end of the cabin, three single beds sit behind a three-quarter height false wall. It’s enough separation to give the kids their own space without completely closing them off. Linen kits are available for the single beds if needed.
The kitchen and ensuite bathroom occupy one end of the cabin. The kitchen has a small oven, large fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle, plus all the cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery for family meals. That said, most families spend their time cooking and eating outdoors – there’s an undercover BBQ in the communal area that tends to become the social hub on warm evenings.
Air conditioning handles heating and cooling, and there’s a TV with DVD player for rainy days or winding down before bed.
Outside, there’s a small concrete patio with chairs, though most families drift onto the grassed quadrangle where park bench seating lets you relax while the kids burn off energy. It’s the kind of setup where children make holiday friends and parents actually get to sit down – everyone wins.
The Murray River is just a short walk away when you’re ready for fishing, swimming or a wander along the bank. But this location gives you that safe, enclosed family space that’s hard to find at riverside sites.
