BIG4 Barham Holiday Parks is pet friendly throughout the entire park, which means Rover doesn’t have to spend the holiday at the kennel or guilt-tripping you from your mother-in-law’s backyard.
Pets are welcome on all sites. That’s not the watered-down version where dogs are technically allowed but only on two sites near the bins. The whole park is fair game.
There are also three dedicated pet-friendly cabins if you’re not travelling with a tent or van. These book up, especially during school holidays, so if you need one, get in early. The cabins are subject to availability and there are conditions, so check when you book.
There’s a fully fenced off-lead area where dogs can actually run around and be dogs. It’s near the 4-hole bush golf course, so there’s space. Let them burn off the energy from being cooped up in the car, socialise with other park dogs, and generally do dog things without you worrying about them heading for the river.
The usual stuff applies. Keep your dog on a lead in the general park areas, clean up after them, and make sure they’re not barking at 6am or terrorising other guests. Basically, be a responsible pet owner and everyone gets along fine.
Not every park takes pets seriously some allow them but make it so restrictive it’s barely worth it. This isn’t that. The park genuinely welcomes dogs, which makes the whole holiday easier when your pet’s part of the family.
The Murray River area is good dog territory. Bush walks, open spaces, and that general country vibe where dogs are more accepted than they are in the city. Ask at the office for suggestions on where to take your four-legged mate while you’re here.
